Presented is an incredible, 14 karat gold and pearl hair pin made between the 1830s and the 1860s. This is one of the best American Victorian mourning pins we have ever come across. The design, the condition and the quality are all incredible. The hair is positioned in a wonderful design over a mother of pearl background and underneath a thick piece of beveled edge glass. The mounting of the pin is securely set with 18 completely natural pearls. The gold setting is very heavy. The clasp has been replaced and is now much more secure.
This piece has been tested with nitric acid and is guaranteed to be 14 karat gold purity.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no damages and no repairs.
